Pushback Rack in a Dallas–Fort Worth warehouse

Pushback Rack in Dallas, TX for Food and Beverage Storage

Food and beverage distributors across Dallas–Fort Worth carry deep inventory on a short list of fast items. Pushback rack was built for exactly that profile.

Pallets ride on nested carts two to six deep. The driver loads from the aisle, the next pallet pushes the first one back, and gravity brings the front load forward when one is pulled.

Where Pushback Earns Its Floor Space

    • Beverage, snack, and grocery distribution with several pallets per SKU
    • Garland and Grand Prairie manufacturing plants staging finished goods
    • Consumer goods replenishment where LIFO rotation is acceptable
    • Older 18–24 ft clear buildings near Mesquite or Stemmons that need density without height

    The DFW Food Distribution Case

Grocery and food and beverage distribution is one of the largest drivers of rack demand in North Texas. A day's truck drive reaches most of Texas and Oklahoma.

Those buildings tend to hold many pallets of a limited set of items. Selective rack would spend half the floor on aisles; pushback cuts aisle count while every lane still faces the pick aisle.

We see it most along the east side, from Garland to Mesquite off I-635 and I-30, and in the Great Southwest Industrial District off SH-360.

    Sizing Lanes the Right Way

Depth is the main decision, and it is easy to get wrong.

    1

    Count pallets per SKU

A 4-deep lane only pays off if you regularly hold four of that item.

    2

    Check rotation

Pushback is last in, first out. Date-sensitive product may belong in pallet flow instead.

    3

    Match the pallet

Cart rails need consistent, sound pallets; broken boards cause hang-ups.

    4

    Mix depths

Many layouts run 2-deep and 4-deep lanes side by side to match the SKU curve.

    Installation Notes for North Texas

Pushback is heavier per bay than selective rack, so beam and frame capacity are sized to a full lane of loaded carts, not one pallet.

Material for pushback is less standard than selective steel. We line up shipping and crew scheduling together so carts and rails arrive when installers are ready.

Summer installs inside non-air-conditioned buildings get early-morning crew starts and planned staging so carts and rails are not sitting in the heat all day.
