Fewer aisles, more pallets. Free CAD layout. Forklifts drive into the structure and set pallets on rails, lane after lane. In Dallas–Fort Worth, the buyers are usually cold storage and freezer operators, or food distributors holding large quantities of a few items. (214) 380-2954 ## Good Candidates for Drive-In Drive-in is a specialist system. It works when your inventory looks like this: - Few SKUs, many pallets of each - Freezer or cooler space where chilled cubic footage is the expense - Seasonal build-up of grocery or beverage product - Product that tolerates LIFO, or a drive-through design for FIFO Image: Drive-In Rack layout for good candidates for drive-in (https://dallaspalletracks.com/assets/drive-in-pallet-rack-Cg418ibV.jpg) ## Cold Storage Across DFW Grocery and food distribution keeps growing around the Southern Dallas County Inland Port, AllianceTexas off I-35W, and the Great Southwest Industrial District. Freezer buildings cost a lot to run per square foot. Drive-in packs pallets tight, so less space has to be cooled for the same inventory. The tradeoff is selectivity. You reach a lane from its open end only, so SKU discipline matters. Rail height and the number of load levels depend on your pallet weights and how high the truck can place a load inside the lane. Clear height matters too. In 32–40 ft tilt-wall, an extra level can add many positions if your truck can reach it and beam capacity supports the load. ## From Phone Call to Installed Lanes 1 ### Inventory review SKU counts, pallets per SKU, and rotation needs. 2 ### Layout Lane depth and height drawn in CAD around columns and doors. 3 ### Material and scheduling Rails, frames, and protection ordered to the layout.
